St Patrick's - Chicago - 15th March 2014
As part of a more than fifty-year-old Chicago tradition, the Chicago River is dyed green in observance of St. Patrick's Day.
The tradition of dyeing the river green arose by accident when some plumbers used fluorescein dye to trace sources of illegal pollution discharges. The parade committee has since switched to a mix of forty pounds of powdered vegetable dye.
The dyeing of the river is still sponsored by the local plumbers union. The dye takes days to dissipate.

Chicago
21st October 2011 - Chicago
We travelled to Chicago on the 21st October to Silvia's cousin Isa and her husband Gus. In the evening we went to 'El Nando' for an Argentinian dinner, and the went to Blue Chicago to listen to a blues band.
On the Saturday we went to celebrate our friend Diedre's birthday. We started by going to the top of the Hancock's tower to watch the sunset. Then we went for dinner, and finished at another friends parents appartment.
